Welcome to Khalaf Daouk Immigration & Legal Services. We've been in business for the past seven years and are proud to announce the launch of our Websites, and opening of our first office located in the beautiful Place D' Orléans Mall at 110 Place d' Orléans Dr, Unit# 2010, Orléans, ON K1C 2L9, 2nd Floor. We are located right at the Corner of Hudson's Bay and the OC Transpo Walkway opposite the security office. There is free underground parking and a Wheelchair Accessible elevator that brings you right to the front door of our office. Other notable stores and service centres on the 2nd floor are SportsChek and Service Canada.

• We will prepare documents, offer legal advice, and act as a client's advocate in cases that come before the Provincial Offenses Court. These cases include:

• Traffic violations (such as offences under the Highway Traffic Act, Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act, or municipal by-law infractions), which include: speeding tickets, seatbelt violations, careless driving, driving licence suspensions, parking infractions, and driving without insurance.

• Violating local ordinances governing matters including garbage disposal, animal management, noise complaints, and trespassing.

Request for Reconsideration

If you disagree with your property's assessed value and/or classification, you have the option to file a Request for Reconsideration with the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC). The deadline to submit a Request for Reconsideration for each taxation year is printed on your Property Assessment Notice.

Purpose for Filing an Appeal

You may file an appeal for any of the following reasons:

• You believe your property's assessed value is incorrect.
• You believe your property's classification is incorrect.
• A person was wrongly omitted or placed on the assessment.
• A person was wrongly omitted or placed on the assessment in respect of school support.
• You have more than one property classification listed on your Notice,
and the portions of assessed value for each class are incorrect. For example, your property may include both commercial and residential portions.

Khalaf Daouk will investigate, do market research, provide case law, and diligently represent you in an appeal hearing at the Assessment Review Board (ARB).

Dana Khalaf
DANA’s exposure to the courts began in 1997 in the UAE as court interpreter and translator accredited by the Ministry of Justice upon completing a Master’s Degree in the field in England. Throughout the following decade, Dana moved on to acquire extensive experience in legal translation and interpretation, being an instructor at (the) college level, and a copywriter for leading international companies. In Canada, she joined the Ministry of the Attorney General in 2010 as a Freelance Court Interpreter. She then became a Licensed Paralegal in 2015 and a Licensed Immigration Consultant in 2021.

Dana’s passion for the world of immigration gained additional insights when she joined volunteers in assisting the influx of refugees in 2015-2016. In 2017 she joined OCLF, Ottawa Community Loan Fund, a not-for-profit organization, as a freelance contractor running financial empowerment workshops for newcomers to Ottawa. Over the years, she represented clients in all the divisions of the Immigration Refugee Board. She also acquired experience with most types of IRCC applications.

Dana has also had the pleasure of working in 2020-2021 as an adjunct facilitator teaching Paralegal courses at Herzing College.

Dana speaks English and Arabic and has a fair command of French.

Ossama Daouk
Ossama Daouk brings a wealth of over 20 years of experience in the fields of construction, architectural engineering, and site management. As a senior manager, he oversaw commercial and legal aspects of running metal work projects, executed contracts at local and international levels, negotiated deals involving multiple stakeholders, as well as implemented and monitored compliance issues.

As a Licensed Paralegal since 2015, Ossama has earned solid experience litigating for his clients. He has assisted clients with matters at the Small Claims Court, Provincial Offences Court, Landlord Tenant Board, and Immigration Refugee Board. He has also assisted clients with property taxes applications before MPAC.

As a Notary Public, and during the Covid restrictions, Ossama went out of his way to adapt to the notarization, legalization and apostille needs of clients both inside and outside Canada.

Ossama has a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Public Administration, a Master’s degree in Business Management from Hull University in England in 2001, as well as a Paralegal Diploma plus an Immigration Practitioner Diploma both earned in Canada. He is a licensed Paralegal in good standing with the LSO. He speaks English and Arabic.
